Our headpieces are crafted using fabrics sourced with great attention to their beauty and origins. We not only buy new materials but also cherish the opportunity to upcycle textiles from vintage second-hand clothing and use remnants from designer friends who share our love for exquisite fabrics. As a result, many of our headpieces come with their own unique stories, weaving together elements of the past and present to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
As a designer, I often reflect on the immense growth in consumption since the 70s and 80s when I was growing up. Although we now have access to more products and options than ever before, I believe that true happiness doesn’t come from owning more, but from living more consciously and with purpose. In my family, we’ve embraced a lifestyle that prioritizes quality and mindful consumption, striving to reduce waste even in the smallest details. Despite our best efforts, the reality of modern packaging is still overwhelming—countless plastic and metal containers that fill up our recycling bin all too quickly. This awareness has deeply influenced my approach to packaging for Niely Hoetsch, especially for my couture headpieces.
Our packaging is designed with sustainability in mind. Rather than using extravagant luxury boxes with a high carbon footprint, we’ve chosen sturdy, minimalist brown boxes made in Europe from recycled materials. These boxes are certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) for responsible forest management, ensuring that our choices support eco-friendly practices. Our dust bags and labels are crafted in Germany and Bulgaria, with the same commitment to ethical production standards.
If a customer desires a bespoke luxury box, we collaborate with OPUS, a wonderful Viennese workshop that provides meaningful work opportunities for individuals recovering from psychoses, helping them reintegrate into working life.
